The SLANZA wiki is a collaborative space for members of the School Library Association of New Zealand, to find and share information on topics related to their work. For more information on the School Library Association please visit the website.
SLANZA members can help build this body of knowledge by being part of discussions on the threads at the bottom of the pages, and to discussions on the email listserv. To subscribe to the listserv please visit
this page for instructions. A team of moderators collate this information and post it onto these pages for the benefit of the membership.
Currently only the Moderators on the Wiki Team can edit pages. If you have suggestions please message an Administrator or Moderator. We are particularly interested in thematic lists, and booklists for students that you think others may be interested in.
Please Note: Until this is more established we would like to stick with the current headings on the sidebar.
Terms of Reference- The wiki is for SLANZA members and by SLANZA members
- The purpose of the wiki is to answer the questions posted most often on the list-serve, with a focus on booklists for curriculum needs and reading for pleasure.
- To share current knowledge within the school library community.
- To sit alongside the listserv and SLANZA webpage, not to be a replacement for them and to be complimentary to them.
- The list-serve is the place for questions/help/information to be posted in the first instance.
- The wiki is not to be used to advertise the services of commercial businesses.
The role of the moderators:
- to collate information shared on the listserv as it relates to booklists and frequently asked questions, to divide it into themes or subject areas.
- to avoid duplication where possible
- to keep the lists current
- to be understanding of the needs of the school library community
- to be prepared to negotiate with others
The rules of engagement!- Please use the threads at the bottom of the pages to post items relevant to those pages.
- In the spirit of collegiality profiles must be filled in, with as much detail as you like, but you must include your name and organisation.
- Please bear in mind that it might take time for things to make it onto the wiki.
- In an effort to stop the wiki burgeoning please keep your postings brief.
- We'd love to have all manner of things on here, but, would prefer it in the early months if we kept mainly to the guidelines of the suggested structure diagram.
- No commercial sites.
- Sometimes things will get shifted from one place to another in the interests of consistency or for ease of use
Please note: The administrators will take off anything that is considered inflammatory, commercial or off topic if they deem it inappropriate. While we accept that there may be differences of opinion, it would be really helpful if this wiki was kept for the topics on the sidebar.
If you would like to see other things on the wiki, just send an email or message to the moderators and it will be readily considered, or post your ideas to the page entitled Bright Ideas for the future.
Whilst this is a collaborative effort, decisions will be made from time to time that we can't consult on, but we promise to work for the good of our community and with your best interests at heart.
You are welcome to share the information on here with whomever you please, (we would like you to acknowledge that you obtained the information from here though) but not in a way which might be seen to undermine the purpose of this site. If this is seen to be happening, it is possible your membership of this site will be reviewed.
We look forward to watching this site grow and develop in lots of interesting ways and see it as a way of adding value to your SLANZA membership. We hope you enjoy using this wiki.
