Hey, I think you're super!1

Hello, my name is: Bridget Schaumann
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything and more you never wanted to know about me!

Occupation: Librarian/Careers Advisor at King's High in Dunedin. Secondary school for boys. Roll is 700ish.

Home town: Dunedin

I joined this wiki because: It's a collaborative space to share resources with my peers (and I am an slave to the internet and like a nice juicy project like this!)

The best word to describe me is: Enthusiastic! (Irritating has been bandied around as well!)

Interests: School Libraries, the people who run them and the people who use them. Very keen on Web 2.0. I am doing Library Studies through the Open Polytechnic when I can afford it, I am a very bad student, I hate to study too many other jobs to do. Prone to putting my hand up to get involved in things or seeing a need and jumping in.

Favorite movies: Far too many to list. I love a good film festival

Favorite TV shows: Spooks, Big Bang Theory, Project Runway, Top Model, Downton Abby, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara - great television. And I really like docos and art movies and one day will have Sky so I can watch the Rialto channel. I am a National Radio geek of the extreme variety, Jim Mora and Kim Hill fill my heart with joy and my mind with good things. I adore Matinee Idle on Public Holidays.

My hero(es): People who aren't afraid to stand up for what is fair and just. Not keen on homophobes!

My superpower is: Ultraloudness

If I could live anywhere, it would be: Seattle, San Francisco, A Greek Island, or Dunedin, I come from Central Otago so that always feels like my 'real' home - apricots, pinot noir, cherries, and long hot summers and short sharp winters.

My dream job(s): I love my job enormously (except when there are 150 kids in there and no duty teacher), but I'm also keen on marketing Public Libraries to youth. And I'm open to suggestions always, head hunt me someone!

What else you should know about me: Mum to three grownups, Tessa, Meg and Nick and Raisin the cat. Lovely partner! Been working in School Libraries for tenish years. I read a lot. I bake, then apply to my ample figure! Keen on Gardening - heritage roses and perennials are my passion, DIY I've recently renovated my entire house to make it stylish and most importantly warmer. I like movies, music and a nice walk in a pretty (flat) place.

I have a personal blog: http://bridgetschaumann.wordpress.com/ It is mostly about recipes, books and plants, with a good dose of my opinions and musings. You are welcome to visit and comment.

Hi Bridget
I attended the SLANZA conference at Rangi Ruru College and met some wonderful people. Came away feeling really inspired and enthusiastic. Can't believe how fast this last term is flying and will start stocktake very shortly. Then it will be holidays and looking forward to flying off to Perth to catch up with my family including my little 2 year old grandson and then off to Darwin to catch up with our youngest son. Then it will be back to school for a new and exciting year to implement some of Suzette Boyd's fantastic recomendations.
Regards
Mary Anderson

Hi Bridget

You sound as upbeat as ever. I hope you're going to the next SLANZA Conference in ChCh; we can have a catch up then?
The biggest development in my life at the moment, is starting a Masters paper at Vic, "Digital technologies for information professionals" INFO 525. I have to say I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying being a mature student and this paper is just perfect for me.
Over and out for now. Lynn
